What are the key enhancements of v.92?

v.92 provides key enhancements to the previous 56k v.90 technology. Each of these enhancements represents a substantial push forward to a more user-friendly dial-up experience.

The enhancements include:

• Modem on Hold
  Now You Don't Need a Second Phone Line
  If you have Call Waiting from your local phone company, your v.92 modem with its 'Modem On Hold' software can let you know you have a call. You will be able to put your modem 'on-hold' and answer your phone without losing your Internet connection!* And, if you have Caller ID, your Modem-On-Hold software will also let you know who is calling. When you're done with the call, simply hang up and return to your Internet session.
  
• v.44 compression
  Receive Information Faster
  The higher compression ratio allows greater data transfer rates than previously available with older modems. That means more data can be downloaded in the same amount of time when you compare it against a connection using the older v.42 compression standard.
  
• Quick Connect
  Get Online Faster
  Using V.92 technology, your compatible modem learns and remembers how you usually connect to the Internet. This shortens the time it takes for your modem and ChamberComm to connect, so you can start surfing faster.

  Simply, this means faster uploads. With v.92, it is possible to upload data at speeds up to 48Kbps. Compare this to the older v.90 technology where the maximum upload speed is 31.2Kbps.   *Modem-On-Hold functionality is limited to approximately four minutes of hold time after which your online session will be disconnected. Modem-On-Hold functionality may not available during the login process. Access to v.92 is not available in all areas. Check our local dial-up numbers to see if service is available in your area.
